For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. As I sit in my home office and listen to the gutters fill with rain outside, I can't help but have sympathy for anyone who has to work outdoors in this weather. My Dad used to call it "hyperthermia weather." The temperature outside is 38-degrees and it's pouring down rain. When I was a kid, Dad would take me along with him on the weekends up to his job site with his logging operation. I vividly remember having to slide under the yarder and try to light a small fire under the bellypan to try to warm up the oil before we'd start the engine. It was cold, wet and miserable. He had to work weekends to get ahead of his crews so they'd have logs to ship to the mills come Monday. I'd also slog through soaking wet, waist-high brush carrying his gas, oil and ax through the woods to help him fall some timber. There was no way to stay dry and the only way to keep warm was to keep moving. I think the point was to help me make wiser career choices later in life. Until next time, stay warm and dry.
