By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com I'm Eric Granstrom. As I headed out to my pickup to load some things last Thursday night, I had a sinking suspicion. Overhead, through a thin layer of clouds, I could clearly see the haunting glow of a nearly full moon. Hmmm, not good! I met Kelly at his house at 6am and after a quick stop for fuel, we were off to Banks Lake. At least that was the plan, unless there was still ice everywhere and, if so, we'd head for Rufus Woods. Traveling north along highway 155, we could see there was still ice on the west side of Steamboat. The northern end of Banks was ice free, so we launched at Coulee Playland. Lou told us we were only the second boat of the season to use their launch. Kelly and I motored across from the launch towards the point and started fishing. It wasn't long before one of the rods on my side of the boat was bent over with a nice walleye. That would be it for the day, however, as the moon and ice fouled our plans. We'll be back again, you can count on that. Until next time, Good Fishing!
