By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com I'm Eric Granstrom. Back in the early 2000's, my friend Phil Zukowski introduced me to walleye fishing at Potholes Reservoir. We threw over a couple worm harnesses on bottom bouncers and Phil told me to hang onto the rod and try to keep the gear on the bottom. He said a bite will feel more like a slow pull than a jerky trout grab. I caught three nice fish in the first half-hour and figured this walleye fishing was easy. Now, 20-some years later I'm still trying to figure out these fish. And, fortunately for me, my wife is in LOVE with the taste and walleye. I've determined that my goal for this fishing season is to learn what I can from those who are successful. My buddy Shane Magnuson has become quite the walleye guide and set me up with some great scents. Now, I'm surrendering myself to the process and heading fishing this weekend with another fisherman I met through the race world at WVSO. He's had great success fishing walleye at Banks, the Columbia and all over the region so I'll be out with notebook in hand, learning what I can. Until next time, Good Fishing!
