For FishingMagician.com I'm Eric Granstrom. Marion and I just returned from a quick trip to Arizona to see her two boys and some friends. The weather was gorgeous with sunny skies and temperatures reaching into the low 70's. A few things I learned on our trip. One, the speed limit signs are mere suggestions as we were passed on nearly every freeway like we were standing still at 70. Two, there's a LOT of people down there and a LOT of development going on. Third, water is a scarce commodity. If you check this report on our Facebook page, you'll see a photo of the Gila River at Florence, Arizona. This once great river was a major tributary of the Colorado. Now, it's basically dried up due to a diversion dam that supplies water to more than 5-million people in the Phoenix and Tucson areas. What once was a great fishing river is limited to a reservoir local anglers fish above Coolidge Dam in San Carlos Lake. What struck me as I stared at the dry riverbed and all the dry washes there is how lucky we are here in Washington to have plentiful water- and fish-filled rivers. Until next time, Good Fishing!
