I wanted to get out and do something in the way of fishing last Tuesday, so I talked my brother in law Tom Verschueren into going to Rufus Woods. We have caught some nice fish at Brandts Landing from the shore and was happy to go. Our favorite spot was occupied so we put our rods out just up the shore. We were blanked while fishing from this particular spot on our last trip to Brandts Landing, and when the person in our favorite spot we moved. We could have saved our energy. We fished for three hours and didn’t get a bite. The Colville fish checker stopped by a couple of times. He first reported that there had been one bite from the dam to Brandts. On his next visit he had learned of another bite, but nothing landed. I guess I could blame our luck on the fact that the reservoir water was very high and dropping while we were there, or the change in weather. It was snowing when we left. Basically, it is a matter of being in the right place at the right time. One of the anglers we talked to netted a fish for a friend a while back that weighed 16 pounds! Now that’s being in the right place at the right time.
