By Dave Graybill

As some of you may know, my wife Eileen and I host fishing trips each year. We have taken groups twice to Belize, last year to Loreto, Baja Mexico and this year we went to La Paz, Baja Mexico. We just got back a few days ago. We fished three days on the Sea of Cortez, catching everything from roosterfish, dorado, pargo, grouper and even triggerfish. I visited La Paz last February and confirmed that we would do our fishing with Baja Pirates of La Paz, and would stay at the luxury Costa Baja Resort and Spa. I had met the Baja Pirates owner, Leonard Phillips, at the Washington State Sports Show in Puyallup, and his service was everything he promised and more. I would highly recommend his service to anyone that wanted to fish the Sea of Cortez. Costa Baja was a huge hit with our guests. We were in La Paz for seven days, so we had time to explore the town and one day four of us took a side trip to swim with Whale Sharks. These sharks are the largest fish in the world and to be up close and personal with them was quite a thrill.
