Mike McKee, owner of Mike’s Meats and Seafood invited me to join him and a friend to fish for walleye on Potholes Reservoir. While we were launching the boat Shelby Ross showed up. He was grinning ear to ear. He is limiting every day, and on Tuesday got a 13-pound walleye, the biggest of the year. After hearing this we were eager to get out on the water. We headed for water of 25 to 30 feet deep and broke out the Spin Drift Slow Death hook rigs. I got a fish right away that was about 20 inches. We were trolling along and came up near Dan and Gary Feil, and saw them catch a couple. McKee picked up a fish here and there and got a couple of perch and catfish, and then Lloyd Woodard’s rod double over. He fought the fish to the boat and it went crazy, I was stabbing at it with the net and it stood on its tail and threw the hook. Miracles do happen. I managed to reach out and scoop that fish up with the net. Woodard said, “Dave you’re my hero!” We had a great day.
