I traveled to the Columbia River Gorge, to Irrigon, Oregon, which is just below McNary Dam, and famous for all kinds of fishing, particularly walleye. My wife Eileen and I had an opportunity to visit some of her family, and they were all excited about getting out on the Columbia. However, the weather was against us. Very windy and even rainy one day. We did make an attempt, and although the wind and current was manageable when we left the marina, it got worse when we arrived to the fishing grounds. I made an effort to fish, but found it impossible. It was a wet ride home. We find a great B & B and a brand new RV Park that would be worth making the trip again. Both the B & B and the RV Park are very close to a very nice park and a well-protected boat launch with mooring slips. It would be a great place to make home base for fishing for salmon, walleye, smallmouth bass and sturgeon. I was very impressed with the area and am eager to get back down there. The name of the RV Park is the Oregon Trail RV Park, and the B & B is called Stokes Landing.
