Well, I am back from Belize. Once again we had great weather and the fishing was better than anyone in the group expected. They caught tarpon, permit, bonefish, barracuda and lots of snapper for meals in their rooms. Everyone had a great time, and I will be planning another trip to Ambergris Caye, that’s for sure. On my way back from the post office on my first day home I ran into Kyle Kelley, who just got off the Icicle River. He didn’t have anyone to go along, so he had two nice spring salmon in his drift boat by 8:30. He said that the bite had really picked up on Monday. Although the river had come up a bit the fish had definitely moved into the river in good numbers. Looks like the Icicle springer fishery is off and running. I visited with the folks at the Department of Fish and Wildlife office on the Chelan Highway, and they said that the paperwork is in and the news release has been written for the opening of the Wenatchee. We should see an announcement very soon. I hear the walleye bite is still good on Moses Lake, so I am headed that way to see for myself.
