By Dave Graybill

Eric Granstrom and I jumped on board Rollie Schmitten’s boat on Monday morning and shot a new video on sockeye fishing at Lake Wenatchee. Conditions were ideal for shooting and Granstrom has already posted the new show. You can watch it by going to my FishingMagician.com Facebook page, too. Windy conditions hampered fishing mid week, but it should settle down soon. There are still a huge number, a record number in fact, of sockeye to catch on the lake. Anglers are also catching very good numbers of sockeye at Brewster. The run has pretty much ended at Bonneville but these fish are still coming over Rocky Reach and Wells Dam. I hope you got the note that summer run salmon fishing is open on the Wenatchee and a short stretch of the Chelan River. These openings are a month earlier than last year. The small streams in our area have finally dropped into fishing shape and this is the time to grab your 3 weight rod and hit the Icicle, Entiat, White and other small streams. I am going to get back out after sockeye with trips planned to the Brewster Pool and Lake Wenatchee. Fishing should also be good below Wells Dam.
