Here are two important dates that you will want to put on your calendar. The first one is Saturday, September 21st. This is the date of the 23rd annual Wenatchee River Salmon Festival at the National Fish Hatchery in Leavenworth. This event is jam packed with fun things to do for the whole family. Kids can enjoy everything hands on activities like fish painting, a Discovery Hunt, shoot a bow and arrow, paddle a kayak and even an appearance of Reptile Man on the main stage. All of this is absolutely free! The hatchery gates open at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning and you’ll want to get there early—there is just so much to do. You can learn all about everything that will be happening at this year’s Salmon Fest by going to
www.salmonfest.org. The other date is Wednesday, September 25th. Starting at 6 p.m. at Town Ford in East Wenatchee will be a seminar on fishing for fall kings. There is an all time record number of these fish coming up the Columbia, and Rick Graybill, who developed many of the techniques used to catch these fish, will be doing the seminar. I’ll be there, too, to talk about this year’s steelhead prospects. See you there!
