This weekend is the Chelan County Fair, and I am going to be at the Youth Outdoor Expo on Saturday afternoon, where kids get to learn a few things about the outdoors and also get to fish for trout in a pond they have set up there. The Expo is a fairly recent addition and I have to hand it to the fair organizers for going through everything it takes to set all this up. I heard that over 400 kids enjoyed it last year and I am pleased to be a small part of it this year. Another event that is coming up later this month, on September 21st, is the Wenatchee River Salmon Festival. This festival celebrated the lifecycle of salmon and the role they have planned in our region. These migrating fish were a major element in the live of native Americans, and the Indian Village is a huge attraction. There are a ton of hands on activities for kids at the festival, and the Outdoor Recreation Area offers archery, snow shoeing, pellet gun target shooting, kayaking, a climbing wall and more. This free event is something that your family will not want to miss. So mark your calendars for Salmon Fest on Saturday, September 21st and plan to spend the day there.
