Ever wanted to be able to fish without size restriction or limits? You can now at three lakes in Okanogan County. Alta Lake, near Pateros, is open to no-limit fishing now through the end of September. Fish Lake, north of Riverside, has a no-limit fishery until October 22nd, as does Schallow Pond, which is 4 ½ miles north east of Conconully, at the outlet of Fish Lake. The reason for the special no-limit fishing seasons on these Okanogan County lakes is due to the plans to rehabilitate the lakes. They have had significant increases in undesirable species in them, such as yellow perch, bullheads and even goldfish. Jeff Korth, regional fish manager with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, there is no reason why anglers shouldn’t be able to catch as many fish as they can from these lakes prior to their treatment. Speaking of Okanogan County lakes, I just got a great report on Rat Lake, near Brewster. Catch and release trout fishing here has been very good. The lake is a selective fishery water until the end of November. Rat Lake switches over to catch and keep fishing beginning in December and winter fishing here should be very good this season.
