We’re just a week away from one of the biggest events for kids in the Wenatchee Valley. The annual Rock Island Kids Free Fishing Day in on Saturday, April 17th, and it should be a dandy. I just heard from Ray Pearson, and he is getting everything ready to have plenty of hot dogs to feed the hordes, and Pepsi will be bringing a pile of sodas and waters, too. I think it was eleven years ago that I first started inviting people down to the Pitt Pond for some trout fishing, and it has really grown into quite an event, thanks to those I just mentioned, the Wenatchee Sportsmen’s Association, the City of Rock Island and others. I hope you and your youngsters, under the age of 15 years can make it down. The next really big deal is the general lowland lake trout season opener on the weekend of April 24th and 25th. There should be over 300,000 anglers hitting the state’s lakes, and the majority will be heading over here to try their luck on the really premium trout waters of Eastern Washington. There are some great trout lakes already open and I encourage everyone to get out and get some practice in before the big weekend arrives.
