There are two important meetings that would be of interest to anglers that are happening on Wednesday evening the ninth of September, so you still have time to get to them. One is the annual roundtable meeting in Brewster. This is the one that is usually held in Pateros at the library with the Washington Department of Fish and Game Director present. This year it has been moved to the Columbia Cove Recreation Building in Brewster and the acting director Phil Anderson and regional staff will be there. These meetings are known for their lively discussions, and with a great summer-run salmon season on the books and a very bright picture being painted by early steelhead numbers there should be a lot of positive things to talk about at this one. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The other meeting is on the proposed Shaker Bend Dam on the Similkameen River in Okanogan County. The dam could flood 6,000 acres and eliminate Palmer Lake among other impacts. WDFW Hydroelectric Mitigation Biologist Patrick Vedrej will address the Icicle Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited on the project at their meeting at Krystals Restaurant beginning at 6:30 p.m.
