I recently traveled to Olympia and met with Representatives Brad Hawkins (middle) and Cary Condotta. I provided them with current information about the Columbia River Salmon and Steelhead Endorsement program. Senator Parlette was in committee at the time, but was the sponsor of the bill that made it all possible.

Shown here is the booth for Lazy Daze Retreats and Far North Charters. Rollie Schmitten and I stayed and fished the Columbia River with these folks last year and plan to go back as soon as we can. Check out what they offer and if you get to Northport you won't forget it.

It was fun to see my friends Doug and Lynn Malsam from Tiffany's Resort on Curlew Lake at the show. My wife and I love to fish Curlew and stay here. Doug reminded me that September can be the best time to fish for tiger muskie on Curlew. I am going to be there this fall!

This catch is so fresh they wouldn't sit still for the photo. This is a limit catch of rainbw taken by Bill Aho (shown) and his fishing partner Jim Click. Rainbow were outnumbering the perch in catches I saw on my visit to Fish Lake.

There were a surprising number of anglers fishing on the ice at Fish Lake when I stopped by last Thursday. There is at least eight inches of ice and no snow on top of it. Perfect conditions to fish for the perch and rainbow here.

A thin skim of ice has formed on Moses Lake near the I-90 Brige. It will be a while before anglers will be able to get out on thick ice to fish for the jumbo perch and walleye at this spot on Moses Lake.

I stopped by the Winchester Wastewy at the Bridge on Road 8 to see if people were fishing for perch. I looked above and below the bridge and found no evidence of fishing. Looks like another bleak year at this former hot spot.

I found the launch parking lot at the bottom end of Rufus Woods full when I checked here recently. All the boats must have been up at the net pens, though. I couldn't see any boats fishing the cans or as far as I could see up river.
