I grew up fishing Wapato Lake near Lake Chelan, and it was good to see it is still a great trout fishing water. This Manson angler and his fishng partner filled their stringers with fat rainbow on opening day.

This angler didn't know what he had on his line, but it was big! This is a grass carp and when caught on any of the Rock Island lakes should be put back unharmed. They help reduce the weeds in the lakes.

The Cook Shack was a busy place at the annual Rock Island Kids Fishing Day. Ray Pearson's crew served everything from donuts in the morning to hot dogs and Pepsi at noon for the hungry fishing families.

Here is one of the kokanee that my brother Rick and I caught on my last trip to Chelan. Kokanee were still hanging out at 70 to 90 feet deep and still hitting our hoochie rigs baited with white corn.

Tom Bartlett of Plain had never caught a kokanee on Lake Chelan, and was pretty happy with this one. Jumbo kokanee fishing is still very good on Chelan and shows no sign of slowing down.
