I threw my fly rod in my truck for a stop at Rocky Ford last Monday, but it was raining so hard that when I passed the turnoff I just kept going. I decided to check out Billy Clapp Lake instead. I know that people were fishing from the shore there before it froze over during the severely cold weather. This reservoir is drawn down in the winter, and water is quite a distance from the end of the boat ramp. The trout fishing in the winter can be so good at Billy Clapp that people will drive across the sand and launch small boats and troll.
