By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Hopefully some of you got a chance to get over to Puyallup for the Sportsmans Show or to Seattle for the Boat Show last weekend. Now that you're back with that new fishing rod or reel or maybe you splurged on a trip to Alaska to fish kings and halibut, what do you do now? Wait. Oh, the waiting! I bought a new rod for sockeye and will still have to wait six months to use it. I'm in my 50's and I'm still learning the art of patience. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the purchase of my first car. I'd returned home from working on my dad's commercial gillnet boat in Bristol Bay, Alaska with a pocketful of "fish money" and had my mind set on buying a car. I found a 1977 Chevy Camaro in the Auto Trader in Bellingham for $3,500. Problem was I was only 15. You think my dad could talk me out of it? Nope. With his support, I bought the car and then had to watch as my mom drove it for a year until I got my license. Waiting...never my strength. Until next time, Good Fishing!
