By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I knew the weekend was going to be busy. We had an AppleSox baseball game to broadcast Friday night, but the announcement that sockeye salmon fishing would close on the Upper Columbia River meant time was running out. So Thursday night, I convinced my Dad to drop his plans and come east for some fishing. We had a great time at the ballpark Friday, as I shared the broadcast with the man who introduced me to the game of baseball. A late night at the diamond would mean for a short night of sleep if we were to fish the next morning. I decided rather than running all the way to Brewster and fight the mob, we'd stay local and fish below Rocky Reach Dam. We launched at Hydro Park and run up with lines in the water at 7AM. At most we were part of 15-boats fishing the circle on the Chelan County side. We had several hits and finally landed a 21-inch sockeye at 8:30. We had four others on and lost. Engine troubles would cut our weekend short but it was a great morning on the water. Until next time, Good Fishing!
