By Dave Graybill

My daughter Whitney came over for a visit, and we always go fishing. She has had some spectacular days with me on Banks for walleye and bass. I mentioned the kokanee were biting on Lake Chelan and she got very excited. We put the Smokercraft in at Mill Bay and pointed it down lake. I had got three limits off Lakeside Park on my last trip to Chelan, so that’s where I set up shop. Once again I had good luck with the orange squid spinners from Kokabow Fishing Tackle. I also used the bright blades from Kokabow. My leaders were about 15 inches and the hooks were baited with two kernels of white shoepeg corn. I tried to keep my speed between 1.3 to 1.5 mph. Just to get away from all the boat and jet ski traffic I trolled up toward Chelan Shores. We found a nice trolling path that produced at least a fish a pass, which was more consistent than the other areas. We were getting some nice sized kokanee, too. We quit when we had 13 and Whitney had too much sun. I was in trouble when I got home and Eileen saw how red she was. Boy, we sure had fun though.
