By Dave Graybill

I do enjoy the annual trips that I make to fish out of the country. I am reminded when I am away of the good fishing I am missing right here at home. I got a text, with photos included, from Shane Magnuson, giving me an update on the fishing at Lake Roosevelt. The photos showed limits of big kokanee and a lot of those great triploid rainbow as well. I am, of course, making plans to get up there as soon as possible. I checked back on what I did last year, and found that we were still getting limits of those big kokanee well into June. I imagine that with the very late cold weather and heavy runoff of cold water, the fishing on Roosevelt could be extended even later this year. I missed some good walleye fishing on Moses and Banks lakes, too. I also ran into Austin Moser, and he showed me some photos of some of the big sturgeon he is getting on the Columbia. This would be great fun. Oh, I almost forgot. I want to get up to Lake Chelan for fast action on kokanee and maybe some cutthroat, too!
