I was checking the weather forecasts for the coming week, and was pleased with what I saw. Daytime temperatures are going to be in high 20s clear through the weekend in places like Lake Chelan and Lake Roosevelt. That’s good news for anglers who want to catch some kokanee. Chelan has been very good. I was catching near limits of 12-inch kokanee in December at the Yacht Club. I’ll bet you can do the same now right off the State Park, or even further down lake. The other destination for exceptional kokanee fishing is Lake Roosevelt. I have seen photo after photo of fish over 20 inches, and it is really just getting started up there. I got word that the launch at Keller is frozen, so you will have to start your kokanee search from Spring Canyon. You may find fish there and if you don’t just run up to Swawilla Basin. I’ll bet there are fish there. I will know soon enough. I have a trip planned to Lake Roosevelt on Tuesday, so look for my report for Friday to see how we did. I’ll let you know where we found them, how deep and what we used to get them. Wish me luck!
