By Dave Graybill

I have a couple of trips that I am taking that have been keeping me up at night. First I am finally going to try the fishing at Coffee Pot Lake, which is outside of Odessa. I have been trying to get to Coffee Pot for years, knowing that it has some very big rainbow trout in it, but it also offers very good fishing for big perch, crappie and largemouth bass. We may experience some wind while we’re there, but I am taking along enough tackle to try for everything that lives in the lake. I let you know how we do. Then I will be traveling down to the Columbia River Gorge to shoot some video and do some fishing for spring salmon. There is a good run this year, with as many as 17,000 passing over Bonneville Dam in one day so far. I have done this for several years now, and the fishing at Drano Lake and off the Wind River can be very good. If everything works out, I will be fishing with two good friends: Herb Good from Hood River and Shane Magnuson from Leavenworth. Check my reports for word on how it’s going down there.
