By Dave Graybill

I had to run down to Moses Lake for a meeting, which didn’t allow me much of a chance to fish, but it did give me the time to check out some of fishing. My first stop was at the Desert Fly Angler in Ephrata. Darc Knobel there is on top of the fishing at Rocky Ford, and he reported that the fishing has been fantastic. That really got me excited. I love the fish the Ford this time of year. Of course I had to buy a bunch of flies and asked him to get me some special patterns that I am sure will guarantee my success when I get on the water there. We’ll see. Now don’t get too excited, but there is ice on Moses Lake. It is not thick enough for ice fishing, but it made me think of drilling a hole and getting some of those jumbo perch and walleye they catch here when it gets solid. I will keep an eye on it and let you know when to plan a trip. I then proceeded to Potholes Reservoir. My buddy Brian Nielson and I tried out luck at Medicare Beach for a short time. No luck this time, but there were several anglers there and that means some nice big rainbow are biting, when you hit it right.
