My wife Eileen and I made a mid week tour of the region, looking to see if we could find what people were up to along the Columbia River. We found a few anglers fishing both above and below Wells Dam. It appeared one boat was looking for walleye and there were a couple of bank anglers down below the power lines. There were two boats fishing above the dam, and they were either pulling plugs or slow trolling bobbers and jigs. There were people on the docks at Pateros, but the only action I heard about was a couple of kings taking an anglers shrimp. I was surprised by the number of kings that we saw at Wells and at Pateros; lots of fish for this time of year. The biggest surprise was when we headed up to see if people were fishing at Rufus Woods. One the way to the ramp Eileen spotted a new fishing access. It has parking for at least six rigs, a toilet and a fire box down on the beach next to the water. You can reach it off Murphy Road, and I was told it is the new favorite fishing spot above Chief Joseph Dam.
