There is still time to register for the free Kids Fishin-Day at the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery in Leavenworth. There are spaces available starting at 8 a.m. through 1 p.m. This is great way to introduce kids age 5 to 12 and their families to fishing. There are educational stations prior to fishing that the whole family will enjoy, and the kids get to catch two fish. The trout are cleaned and put in a bag of ice for the trip home, too. The trout are guaranteed to be hungry, so the action is fast at the raceways. Rods, reels and bait is provided, along with help from volunteers to help the kids catch fish. You’ll want to bring your camera, though, to capture the kids catching their first fish! There are several other events for kids and derbies coming up in June. Be sure to click on the Pepsi logo on my web site to view them all. If your club or organization is planning an event and it isn’t on the list, be sure to send me the details and I will add it. These are a great way to learn what you need to know to add fishing to your list of adventures this summer.
