There’s a great event for kids coming up on June 2nd, and you still have time to register. It’s the annual Kids Fish-In Day at the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery, and this is a very special event—that’s free! Families with children age five to 12 years old are invited to come to hatchery, learn some things about water safety, knot tying and fish identification, and then catch two fish from the raceways. Rods and reels and bait will be provided. I love watching these kids catch their first fish, and parents will be pleased to learn that the fish will be cleaned and iced in a bag for the trip home. The Central Washington Bass Club will help sign everyone in. The Wenatchee Sportsmen’s Association will be there to help the kids catch their fish, and the local chapter of Trout Unlimited will take on the cleaning duties. My Dad will be there with some of his friends to show the kids some special equipment used for fishing, and the Discovery School will be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers as a fund raiser. Just log onto friendsofnwhatcheries.org and follow the links to register. Hope to see you there!
