By Dave Graybill

Walleye fishing in our region is just getting started, but the bass fishing on most of our waters is off and running. At recent tournaments at Banks Lake five fish limits weighed from over 15 to 17 pounds and the big fish for one of them was a 6.5 pounder. One of the smaller tournaments was won by Coulee City angler Mike Kenter and his young son Dakota. There are some really big bass being landed on Potholes Reservoir now, too. This is the time of the year when the pre-spawn fish are being taken is very good numbers throughout the region. Something for new or beginning trout anglers is now posted on YouTube.com I have put up a short video on how to clean trout. You just log onto YouTube.com and then search: The easiest way to clean trout and you’ll find it. I see people trying to clean a rainbow a lot of different ways, but this is the way that I have found to be the easiest and fastest way to clean trout. Good news for fans of Rufus Woods is that there is word that the bite is heating up again. Dave Altier at Coulee Playland is saying that a “pellet fly” is accounting for good catches.
