The knot tying area at the Columbia Basin Kids Fishing Derby was a busy spot during the event.

My wife's sister Karen Heim joined us at Buffalo Lake. Here she is with one of the carryover rainbow that she caught. Buffalo Lake is very good right now for rainbow from 12 to 16 inches, with carryovers to 20 inches and the occasional triploid of 5 pounds.

My grin is almost as big as this triploid rainbow that I caught at Buffalo Lake. The fish hit an Apex lure trolled behind a small dodger. I was using one of my kokanee rods and it was quite a battle! We kept ten trout the first afternoon. They averaged 16 inches.

The launch basin in Connelly Park was a busy place at the Columbia Basin Kids Fishing Derby. Fishing was really good at this year's annual event. There were many rainbow of 2-pounds caught. Sponsors provided a range of prizes for the kids.

Eric Granstrom put the video camera down long enough to land this smallmouth bass at Banks Lake. He was casting a crank bait in the shallows of the Devils Punchbowl. Then we caught some rainbow for the triple!

We found a bunch of smallmouth bass in the Devils Punchbowl on Banks Lake. I got this dandy on a Bomber plug in the crawfish pattern. I thought the smallmouth fishing was going to be tough. Not!

Keith Jensen started our day by landing this walleye right across the bay from Coulee Playland, which will be the headquarters for the Triple Fish Challenge. We got three keepers and lots of shorts that day.

We were after three species on Banks Lake while shooting a new TV Show with Keith Jensen of Big Wally's Guide Service. Keith put us on bass, walleye and trout. We're ready for the Triple Fish Challenge!

I got this walleye using a a new spinner I found in my box. I was looking for something blue and this one had a blue Smile Blade, a blue hard blade and a blue hookie!
