This is one of the Kroe Jigs that really turned our day around while fishing for the steelhead at the Rocks near Pateros recently. I was getting blanked until I put these on everyone's rod. We got three nice fish soon after!

Rollie Schmitten had a good day fishing for steelhead on the upper Columbia. He got one big fish below Wells Dam on a 3.5 Mag Lip Flatfish, and then got two more on a bobber and jig near Pateros.

Here are some anglers fishing off some rocks at Brandts Landing on Rufus Woods Reservoir. Brandts Landing is a Corps of Engineers Park six miles above the dam and is a great spot for fishing for trout.

I got this nice rainbow at Rufus Woods Reservoir recently. Eric Granstrom and I landed three other smaller fish before I got this one. There are still some good triploids being landed off Brandts Landing.

This shot shows the steam boiling off the Columbia River at Bridgeport recently. It was about 15 degrees, which was fine for pulling plugs, but when the wind came up the temperature dropped to around zero. We left and tried fising elsewhere. Shane Magnuson put us on five steelhead on plugs.

I just had to show off this steel and the rod I caught it on. The is a Fetha Styx Chrome 10 1/2 made for steelhead fishing and it is now my favorite steelhead rod. It is very light weight and casts effortlessly. I would encourage you to check one out. I will become your new favorite, too!

What you are looking at here is how Shane Magnuson rigged his plugs with a Hevi-Beads egg-colored bead when we fished for steelhead recently. This set up accounted for four of the five fish we hooked that day.

In the distance you can see the boat ramp at Higgens Point. When I was there recently there were eight rigs and trailers parked. Fishing for Chinook is the attraction. Kokanee fishing has slowed as they near spawn.
