I was planning to shoot a video on the boat launches on Banks Lake and do some smallmouth fishing while I was at it. I thought that Tom Verschuren might want to come along. I had introduced him to bass fishing on Banks many years ago and he’s hooked. He jumped at the chance to help me shoot the boat launch video, as long as we took some time to cast for smallmouth. We have had some great days on Banks. The plan is to start at the very lower end of the big lake and work our way to the very top. We’ll make stops along the way to show boaters the launches and how to catch smallmouth bass near them. I will be sure to include footage in the video of the lures that we use to attack strikes from smallmouth. Everything from our favorite Senkos to top water plugs and crank baits that we have used successfully in the past. This is a great time of year to go after smallmouth on Banks. The action starts in the early spring and goes clear into the fall. I have even caught smallmouth in December on Banks!
