I made it down to Vernita, this time taking my wife Eileen along. She was amazed at the launch site, with all the trailers and RVs parked there, and that the launch was so rough. We took a quick look at the King Hole and seeing nothing on the screen, headed down to Reactor B. After two long passes with few fish on the screen and only one fish seen caught we ran all the way up to the dam. There was a boat in the hole I planned to fish so I set up on the other side of the river. On the first pass I hooked a huge sturgeon. I jumped twice and was a handful in the heavy current, so I broke it off. I finally found a good run at about 2 o’clock and then we caught fish after fish. I spent time re-rigging after getting snagged, but we still got at least one fish or lost a fish on each pass. We didn’t get anything very big, but we sure had fun. I am heading back down with another group, and I will let you know how I do. You can read all about it in next week’s NCW Nickel Ads, here in Central Washington and in the Tri-Cities.
