By Dave Graybill

I made another trip to Moses Lake, looking for walleye. Joining Brian Nielson and me this time were Kevin Winters and Dave Moazed, both from Leavenworth. I was hoping for overcast skies and some wind. I had calm and sunny conditions on my previous trip and it didn’t work out so well. We didn’t have our gear out more than fifteen minutes when my rod went off and I landed a nice keeper. We all celebrated thinking this was going to be a great day of walleye fishing. Not. We did get a few more worm-stealing bites, but it was slow for me again. I hope the anglers participating in the Moses Lake Walleye Classic have better luck than I have had. The tournament attracts some of the best walleye anglers in the state, and this is one of the best annual tournaments in the region. There is some big prize money being handed out this year, and if you want to get a piece of it, you can still enter. To get all the details, call Ron Sawyer at Cascade Marine in Moses Lake, at 509-765-6718. Don’t forget, the Kids Fish In Day at the Leavenworth Hatchery is this Saturday, staring at 8 a.m.
