By Dave Graybill

I spent some time on the road and fished a lake in southern Oregon with Jim Teeny of fly fishing fame. We caught some huge rainbow trout, up to 9 pounds, using his specialized lines and flies and had a great time. I then hit Moses Lake with guide Keith Jensen and caught some bedded smallmouth, and they were all pre-spawn fish weighing up to 4 pounds. I skipped the opening weekend on the Icicle for spring salmon, and learned that fishing was poor anyway. There just aren’t any fish in the river yet, but they are on the way. I want to remind everyone about the free seminar at Town Ford on Thursday, May 23rd, starting at 6 p.m. Bobbie Loomis will be there talking about kokanee fishing and Shane Magnuson will also have a presentation on fishing for spring salmon on the Icicle. One Thursday, June 6th Mike Campbell of Lowrance Electronics will be at Bob Feil Boats and Motors at 6 p.m. He will be talking about the advances available on their depth sounders. I will be there, too, with a presentation on kokanee fishing in our region. There will be plenty of parking and I hope to see you there.
