One of the favorite fishing openers we have over here is the second opening of Jameson Lake. This 500-acre lake has been a Mecca for anglers for decade. Huge crowds come here for the spring opener and many families I talk to are into their fourth generation of their annual opening day trip to Jameson. The second opener, which is on October 1st is nothing like the spring opener. There aren’t the huge crowds, but anglers that know the history of the lake realize that this can be the best time to visit Jameson. The trout that were planted in the early season to keep anglers happy have grown all through the summer. The closes each season on the 4th of July so the fish aren’t bothered at all until the fall. I have been to the lake for the “second” season many times and have great fishing. I always catch a bunch of rainbow, and I usually troll flies. Last time I was there I saw a 4-pound rainbow caught from shore on bait. The resorts at both ends of the lake are open for the month-long season, so families can get tackle, rent boats and even get a hot meal.
