Walleye fishing throughout the region has really taken off in past couple of weeks, and we’ll know a lot more about how the fishing is at Banks Lake. The annual Big Walleye’s Tournament occurred last weekend. When I get the results we will all know how the fishing is at Banks. If the weather cooperates, I expect the tournament to be one of the best in years. I plan to make my next walleye trip to Banks, so I am very interested to see how these tournament anglers do. I am really excited about my next fishing trip, which be something very different for me. Three of us anglers are about to experience the spring fishing for channel catfish on the Columbia south of Pasco. Local guide Don Huffman has been fishing for big cats down here for years, and I am finally going to make the trip, thanks to another fishing buddy, Bill Ballentine. He set the trip up and then couldn’t go. We’ll miss him. According to Huffman we should hit this fishery just about right. The big females are still around and he has already boated hundreds of pounds of them this season. I’ll let you know how we do.
