By Dave Graybill

I told you about my first day on Drano and how hot the fishing was first thing in the morning. The same was true the next day. I am sure that we would have limited Shane Magnuson’s clients very early again, but a boat next to use hooked a fish right in the corner and it swept all of our gear. Shane netted the anglers fish for him and it took us about twenty minutes to re-tie our lines. We worked as fast as we could but only hooked one fish, which turned out to be wild, before the early bite shut down. We trolled and trolled after that and Magnuson tried a bunch of tricks. When he switched to a larger blade on his prawn spinner rig and that did the trick. We caught two more fish pretty quickly during a brief early afternoon bite. His clients, who had not caught a fish in their three previous trips to Drano Lake were pretty happy with Magnuson’s performance and since they had a long drive home took off. I know Shane was planning to explore upriver on the Wind the next day and I can’t wait to here how he did. My next adventure will likely be to Moses Lake or Banks for walleye. I’ll keep you posted.
