By Dave Graybill

I jumped on board Shane Magnuson’s boat to do some video on steelhead fishing for the new television show the other day, and had a blast. His two clients I had fished with before, down at Drano Lake. Bob Hall and Pete Flones sure picked a good time to come over from the west side to some steelheading. The first day they hooked 20 fish, got 12 to the boat and had five hatchery fish in the mix. On the second day, when I was on board they hooked 16, got 13 to the boat and there were six keepers. You see I got to get my limit when they were done. We started about 7:30 and were done by 10:30. Magnuson started down below Pateros at the area known as The Rocks, and then moved up stream and passed under the Highway 97 Bridge to fish the estuary, where the Methow River meets the Columbia, to finish the day. There was a bunch of fish in here and it didn’t take long to fill the fish box. I want to remind anglers that when they are fishing above the bridge the rules change. It’s single barbless and no bait.
