There are a lot of things to get excited about, now that the weather is finally giving us a break here in Eastern Washington. With more frequent sunshine and warming water temperatures fishing action will improve for multiple species in our region. I am getting good reports from several areas. One good one is that Banks Lake is really heating up for both walleye and bass. The tournament that was held in mid-May produced limits of walleye the first day and near limits the second. Thing is they were all males. The walleye hadn’t spawned yet, but with warmer weather the big females will be coming on the bite. I am also hearing of really good catches of both largemouth and smallmouth bass on Banks. A reader sent a good report about the walleye fishing on the Spokane Arm of Lake Roosevelt. The walleye were all 17 to 20 inches and he had good luck with spinners and a worm harness. The smallmouth bass are starting to bite on Lake Chelan, too. A buddy of mine caught 15 the other day, fishing coffee tubes around the docks and structure below Lakeside Park. I hope to give Evergreen a try for bass here soon.
