It’s getting to be that time of year when I get a lot of questions about ice conditions on area lakes. I know that it can be cold enough to have a solid cap of ice on the lakes in some years, but not this one. We had a long, warm fall this year, and although we have seen some severely cold days, there haven’t been enough of them to form ice on some of the more popular lakes, like Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee and Roses Lake near Manson. There is a great way to check on Fish Lake from the comfort of your home. Log onto www.lakewenatcheeinfo.com and click on the Fish Lake Time Lapse web cam. This will give you a clear picture of the lake and you can see if there is ice, and even if there are folks out there ice fishing. No such camera exists on Roses Lake, but I have spies checking on it for me and I’ll keep you up to date. I will also be checking on Patterson Lake, near Winthrop. This is a dandy for yellow perch, and I have also caught rainbow to 16 inches through the ice here, too.
