Boy there is a lot going on right now. Looking down the road at this week there are a couple of major annual events coming up. Beginning on Thursday, February 26th is the annual Boat Show at the Wenatchee Valley Mall. I have heard that there will be more than boats being shown at this year’s show, so there is even more reason for families to stop by and check it out. The show will only run from Thursday to Sunday this year, and not over ten days as in the past, so get there before it closes on Sunday March 1st. Many anglers will not be able to attend the show on Sunday as March 1st is also the opening day of trout fishing at the popular lakes in the Quincy Wildlife Area. Two big draws are Burke and Quincy lakes, and for fly anglers Dusty Lake. Once again we are keeping our fingers crossed for open water on these lakes for the opening day. The past two years have been a near thing, but the skies cleared and the weather turned warm and the ice departed in time to allow good fishing for the opener. Also opening on the same weekend are the very popular quality lakes near Beverly. Lenice and Nunnally always draw good opening day crowds, and the fall fishing at these lakes was excellent. Lenore, near Soap Lake opens for catch-and-release fishing for Lahontan cutthroat on March 1st, too.
