If the results of a recent bass tournament are any indication, I’d have to say that the bass bite is pretty good on Banks Lake. The first tourney of the year saw 104 teams of anglers catch 414 fish. The first place team had the top weight of 16.62 pounds, and won $5,066.00. Big fish for the tournament was 4.2 pounds and won the angler who caught it $866.00. Most of the fish were caught in shallow water and on plastics. It was noted that most of the bass, and both largemouth and smallmouth were taken, were fairly skinny as the feed that the bass thrive on has really come up yet. These anglers were lucky to hit a good weekend for the tournament. Temperatures were the highest we’ve seen this spring, and warmer water will certainly improve fishing for everything here in Central Washington. Anglers should be aware of the big annual lowland lake trout opener the last weekend of the month. Be sure to have you new license and your tackle box cleaned out and ready for action. Put new line on your reels, too. You don’t want a mess on your hands on opening day!
