The biggest day of fishing every year in Washington State is coming on Saturday, April 22nd. It is the annual lowland lakes trout season opener and hundreds of thousands of anglers will be hitting the water statewide. A great number of them will be headed our way, to Eastern Washington. About 60 percent of the people that will be fishing our area lakes on the opening weekend are from west side, primarily King, Snohomish and Whatcom counties. I hope you are ready for the big weekend. You remembered to get your new fishing license, right? Have you gone through your tackle box to be sure you have everything you need? Is there fresh line on your reel? Have you test fired your boat motor to be sure the battery is fully charged and it will start when you need it this weekend? Have enough life jackets for everyone that will be onboard? This is just a very short checklist that you need to complete before you head out for your favorite lake. Be safe, have fun and I hope you catch one of the tagged trout for a prize in the WDFW Statewide Trout Derby.
