I have been to Moses Lake a couple of times this year, and had pretty good walleye fishing on both occasions. I recently made another trip to Moses, and this time I was a guest angler in one of the Central Washington Bass Club’s tournaments. There were 13 boats that blasted off from the State Park. I fished with Dave Massey from East Wenatchee, and met him at 3:30 a.m. to get to the start on time. The boats scattered from one end of the lake to the other, looking for largemouth and smallmouth bass in their favorite holes. I thought I was pretty hot, getting the first two fish in the boat, but Massey’s experience prevailed and he beat me soundly in numbers and weight by the end of the day. It took almost 20 pounds of bass to win the tournament, and the big fish was caught by Joe Arballo, also of East Wenatchee, and the largemouth weighed just over 5 pounds. There were husbands and wives, fathers and sons fishing in the tournament boats. This is a great group, more dedicated to having fun than fierce competition.
