This wobbling, rattling lure has proven to be irresistible to spring salmon on the Columbia River. From the folks at Yakima Bait it is a new version of the famous Flatfish that has been used for decades. It can be fished “nude”, but is even more effective when wrapped with sardine. The lure dives deeper than a typical Flatfish of its size, and even has ridges along the sides to help keep wraps even and in place. I have seen these out-fish other lures at Drano Lake for springers in the early season. They will catch springers in the Icicle River, too. I have also found them very effective even in the fall for late summer-runs and fall-run kings on the upper Columbia. I plan to use them more often and earlier for salmon. If you like to catch kings in our rivers, give these a try.
