Stren Microfuse Braided Line
In all my features about how to fish for steelhead with a bobber and jig I always mention the need for using braided, high visibility line. The primary reasons are that they float, so they mend easily, and can be seen in the flat light of winter. I have tried a couple of different lines and have found the Stren Microfuse superior to any other lines. This was introduced this year, and if you aren’t using it when you fish a bobber and jig, you’ve got to try it. I have suggested it to some other very experienced steelhead anglers on the upper Columbia, and they not only switched, they have all their friends using it, too. Stren Microfuse has all the qualities I mentioned, and also casts like a dream, dramatically reduces tip wrap that occurs with other lines, and is very durable. Stren has come up with a real winner with this line. I would highly recommend it to anyone who fishes a bobber and jig set up for steelhead in the winter, or any other time of year for that matter.
