I have driven many Smokercraft boats over the years and each year they have made improvements. The new Phantom 202 is off shore-bracketed, which makes the interior of the boat huge. With the additional interior space they have added a very convenient fish box/storage bin in the transom, and a well that can be used when fishing messy baits, since it easily cleaned out. It has a wash down in the transom and I have two batteries stored on one side and on the other side room for storage. It has two bench seats that offer lots of room to stow life jackets and tackle. I have stowed as many as eight rods in the holders, and I really like the trays in the gunnels and along the transom. It also has very functional “toe kicks” that you don’t in other boats, other than Smokercraft. There is additional storage under the driver and passenger seats, and another fish box/storage locker just ahead of the windshield. There is a panel that can be placed below the windshield to stop the wind in colder weather or stowed in the spring and summer. It has full gauges and this model has a wiper on the driver’s side. This one is powered by the new Mercury Pro SX 115 hp that is the lightest in its class. I can easily go over 30 with four people and full tanks of gas. It also has the Mercury Pro 9.9 kicker. It has two electric Scotty downriggers, and on the bow a Minn Kota Ultera, that is 112-pound thrust and self deploying. I can turn this motor on at the launch and never have to go up on the bow. This really an ideal set up for the kind of fishing we do here in Eastern Washington. I know at least three friends that have this boat and are extremely pleased with them.
