As most of you know, I spend a lot of time of the lakes and rivers in our region, and sometimes I like to fish some of our smaller waters. When I do I have found the NuCanoe a great way to do it. These boats are light enough to handle by myself, and fit right in the back of my short bed Ford F-150. I have known about these boats for years and when I wanted to fish Antillon Lake, just up the hill from Manson, Don Forbush at the Stillwater Inn in Lake Chelan let me borrow one of his. He’s a dealer of the NuCanoe and had just what I needed. I chose to use the one set up with oars and found it to be perfect for fishing this small lake. The boat was very easy to handle, and to get in and out of. The seat was very comfortable and the rod holders were both convenient and secure. I took both a fly rod and a spinning rod with me, and there was plenty of room for my pack with camera, lunch and drinks right behind me. If you like to fish small lakes you should give one of these a try. Forbush would be happy to show you the models he has available in Chelan, and would probably let you take one out for a spin. You’ll have a blast! To arrange to see a NuCanoe, give Don a call at 509-670-0009.
