I have been aware of Fetha Styx rods for a few years, and have been envious of some of my fishing friends that have been using them. They are obviously a premium rod. Well, I won a Fetha Styx Downrigger rod at the Brewster Salmon and derby and was able to use it for the balance of the salmon season, and I can tell it will last me for years to come. This rod is built to take the heavy demands of downrigger use. The forehand and butt are made of materials that won’t break down from being hauled out of the holder with a heavy fish on the line. The butt is finished with a cap unlike other rods, so it won’t show the wear of other rods when they are drug across the deck to be hooked to the clip. It has plenty of power, and I mean plenty. This rod would be a good one for off shore use, too. I would pick it to fish for halibut, ling cod or even tuna. I plan to take it with me when I fish for big snapper and other species off the reef in Belize. I suggest that you check out the Fetha Styx Downrigger rods before when you are looking to buy a set for your boat. I am getting at least one more to match the one I have, and am looking at their other rods for different applications for species here in Central Washington.
